The 50s Collection

With the new 2019-2020 catalogue MLE introduces a range of products inspired to the italian design of the ’50, the years of the Vespa motorcycle by Piaggio and the years of Alfa Romeo Giulietta. Italian design mixes functionality and irony to reinvent objects. It is a pleasant and fluid design but at the same time complex because full of emotion and full of suggestions and concerns coming from the media and from the concerns of global communication: many objects are, therefore, not only functional but also transmit a strong human and emotional charge. In that time in Italy the design begun to grow as ‘industrial’ design but still most of the products were mostly made in artisanal workshops especially in lighting. Materials used were brass and aluminium and the colours used were very strong.

CELESTE wall lamp is a part of this new collection. A big uplighter with round shapes, generous size for big spaces, high ceiligs. The brass parts showing the layers of the time, the imperfections of the surface and the art of the welder. The deep sapshire blue polished paint declares strongly the presence of the lamp in the space.

Lotte Breithaupt of FUCINA ARCHITETTURA took care of this range  developing also other wall lamps and a floor lamp. All beautiful objects following the ‘50s style for hotel decoration with latest LED technologies included.

Craftmeship, tradition and care for the details are the values that this collection want to communicate to the hotel guests. Each of them helps the interior designer to define a unique product for a unique guest experience.

The collection is dedicated to a major boutique hotel in the centre of Rome realized in a very prestigeous XIX century building.
